Kenpo Kobudo Karate 5th Degree Black Belt
Michael Orsini started his martial arts life at the age of nine with Soke Eugene Coutu. He was one of Soke Coutu’s first students at the new dojo back in 1987. Though he was young and just a kid, Michael took to his new studies very seriously and admired his instructor. He looked up to his instructor very much and tried his best every class to impress Soke as much as possible. In 1992 and at 15 ½ years old, Michael successfully tested for his adult Black Belt. He was the first in his system to reach that milestone before the age of 16, which is the requirement for Kenpo Kobudo Karate.
Michael continued his training at the dojo and eventually graduated Classical High School in Providence, RI. Upon graduation, Michael attended URI and began his studies of Physical Education. He graduated Magna Cum Laude of his class and became a full time Physical Education Teacher at Lincoln High School. During this time Michael continued his Martial Arts training and teaching at Kenpo Kobudo Karate Dojo.
In addition to training under Soke Coutu, Michael has also spent time training in the arts of Tai Jitsu and Aiki-Jitsu with Soke John Rubian as well as Kumi-Uchi Ju-Jutsu with Hachidan David Lindsay. Michael has a vast array of knowledge in many different forms of fighting and is consistently expanding his horizons by actively seeking out new things to add to his repertoire. Soke-Dai Michael combines all aspects of Martial Arts to his to his teachings and is forever working on improving his Martial Arts abilities.
In 2009, Soke-Dai Michael Orsini took over Kenpo Kobudo Karate and is now in charge of keeping the warrior spirit of the Dojo alive and thriving for years to come. He has taken the reins and is persistent on keeping the traditions and ideals of Kenpo Kobudo Karate intact for the future, while keeping the system updated for today’s street fighting requirements.
